St Stephens Green Dublin

Every city needs a beautiful park, and Wren Urban Nest near Stephen's Green in the heart of Dublin 2 is one of the finest you could ask for. Right in the middle of town, Stephen's Green is a place where Dubliners go to sit with a cup of coffee, to catch up with friends or just grab a moment of peace among the pretty flowerbeds.

In the middle of the action you'll find the lake, divided by a gorgeous bridge and home to a gaggle of ducks. Though take a closer look, because a good few of the little birds hoping to get fed are actually seagulls, who have learned that doing a good impression of a duck gets you all the good bread. The (actual) ducks that do live here have played quite the role in Dublin's history...

Back in 1916, during the Easter Rising, Stephen's Green was the epicentre of battle. Soldiers dug trenches in the park, troops seized the green and bullets flew overhead. But every day at noon, the soldiers put down their weapons and ceased fire. The groundskeeper of the park would enter, safe from any battle, so that he could feed the ducks in peace. Why? Well, the ducks never agreed to a war, he said. Why should they suffer?
